My dog has gained weight, what should I do?

Our recommended portions are calculated using nutritional models developed together with our veterinarians. However, every dog is unique and their energy needs may vary 🐶

If you notice that your dog has gained weight, the tips below may help.

📉 Slightly reduce the daily portion

We recommend reducing your dog's daily food allowance by approximately 10%.

For example: if your dog is currently receiving 500 g per day, you can reduce this to 450 g per day.

You can easily adjust the quantity through your Dog Chef Account under "My Subscription".

🍪 Take treats and extras into account

Does your dog regularly receive treats, biscuits, or table scraps?

If so, it may be helpful to reduce these as well, as they also contribute to your dog's daily calorie intake.

📋 Check your dog's profile

Make sure your dog's information is up to date:

• weight;

• body condition;

• activity level;

• neuter or spay status.

An accurate profile helps us calculate the most appropriate portions.
To do this, consult our FAQ "My dog's profile has changed. How do I update it?"

👩‍⚕️ Ask our veterinarians for advice

Do you have questions about your dog's weight gain or are you unsure about the right portion size?

🏃‍♂️ Exercise remains important

In addition to an adapted feeding plan, a little extra exercise can help your dog return to their ideal weight.

An extra walk, a play session, or more daily activity can already make a big difference 🐕🎾

📈 Monitor your dog's progress

Keep an eye on your dog's weight and body condition, and adjust their profile or portions if necessary.

This ensures that their feeding plan continues to match their needs 🐾
