I chose the mixed plan (50% fresh, 50% kibbles). How to split meals. Should fresh food be mixed with kibble?

We recommend feeding your dog two meals per day (or three meals per day for puppies under 6 months old) 🐶

After the transition period from their previous food, you can offer the Mixed Plan in two different ways:

• mix the Dog Chef fresh meals with the Dog Chef kibble in the same meal;

• serve the fresh meal and the kibble at different times of the day, for example fresh food in the morning and kibble in the evening (or vice versa).

💡 Can I mix fresh meals and kibble?

Yes, absolutely!

You may sometimes hear that fresh food and kibble should not be mixed because they have different digestion times. However, our veterinarians confirm that these two types of food can be perfectly combined.

While kibble generally stays in the stomach longer than fresh food, the digestive system is perfectly capable of handling this difference. The stomach naturally regulates which food particles are ready to move on to the intestines and which need a little more time to be digested.

This means you can safely mix fresh meals and kibble in the same bowl 🍽️

🐾 Which option is best?

There is no right or wrong choice.

Some dogs prefer having their fresh food and kibble mixed together, while others enjoy receiving them at different times of the day.

Simply choose the option that works best for you and your dog 💚
